In Solidarity

Uptown Main Street stands in solidarity with the black community against systemic racism and injustice.

Our mission is to encourage community development and historic preservation of the commercial corridors of upper 14th Street and Kennedy Street, NW. We will continue to be deliberate in our efforts by:

·       Consciously working for equity and justice in all our programming.

·       Engaging a diverse board, volunteers, and staff to effectively support our business community.

·       Listening to the needs, hopes, and challenges of hundreds of business owners and thousands of residents so that we can better support our neighborhoods

·       Uncovering, showcasing, and learning the untold histories of our corridor so we can better design our future.

We don’t have all the answers but we pledge to support the movement, to challenge the status quo, and to push for progress. We pledge to fight for justice in every plan we make, facade we help improve, grant we award, and community events we host; and to do our small part to shape and support an ever-evolving Uptown neighborhood as an inclusive, equitable, and vibrant community.
