As part of Uptown Main Street’s (UMS) commitment to supporting local businesses along Upper 14th St. NW and Kennedy St. NW, UMS is pleased to offer funding for businesses seeking technical assistance or improvements to their storefronts. Businesses within the UMS corridor can apply for up to $5,000 in grants in FY19.
Applications are due by midnight on January 15, 2019. Applications that are submitted late or are incomplete will not be considered. Complete applications can be sent by email, mailed to Uptown Main Street’s office or hand-delivered. Awards will be given based on the availability of funds and the strength of the applications. Be sure to consult our organization’s Design Guidelines before speaking to a contractor about any changes to your storefront.
Applications can be completed in the language that the applicant prefers. This year, grant applications will be made available in English, Spanish, Korean and Mandarin. Uptown Main Street will translate applications in English for evaluation after they are submitted if necessary.
All required documentation listed in the checklist at the end of the application must be submitted for the application to be considered complete. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until documentation is complete. Businesses interested in applying for technical assistance grants and storefront improvement grants should submit separate applications for each grant. Please note that the total grant amount requested must not exceed $5,000.
